Student Leadership

School Captains are given opportunities to practice their leadership skills at special assemblies.

At Aranda Primary we aim to develop leadership skills in all students and across all levels of schooling. The following is a summary of our leadership strategies.

School Leaders

School Leaders (Year 6) are elected annually by their peers. They assist with public functions e.g. welcoming visitors, hosting school assemblies, take a leadership role in activities and in the playground.

House Leaders

House Leaders (Years 5 and 6) are elected annually by their peers. They are responsible, with the help of staff, for leading and coordinating house teams.

The House System provides a valuable influence in the school’s educational program in that it recognises the group as well as individual achievement. It provides students with the opportunity to contribute to their house through sporting achievements. Family members are placed in the same House.

Student Representative Council

The Student Council is composed of one student elected from each class, Kindergarten to Year 6, for a term. Individuals of the SRC are expected to model the school values of kindness and respect at all times. The SRC meets to discuss issues relevant to the school community and initiatives from the student body to develop students’ perspectives on proposed changes and has an important role in improving our school. The representatives take a leadership role in promoting environmental waste wise practices in the school.
